Who has the better shot at victory, Barnes or Forlines?

Who has the better shot at victory, Barnes or Forlines? Two high-profile leaders with significant name recognition filed as challengers for seats in the General Assembly Tuesday. Republican Kitty Barnes will face longtime incumbent Austin Allran in the May 6 primary. That seat encompasses all of Catawba County and section of western and northern Iredell. Former Bank of Granite executive and Democrat John Forlines will oppose incumbent Edgar Starnes for the 87th House District seat. The district includes all of Caldwell County.

I think that Kitty Barnes could give Austin Allran a run for his money but I don’t know if we are ready for a change just yet. It will be interesting to see how the campaigns play out. I think both candidates have the attitude of fairplay, so I don’t anticipate any mudslinging.

As far as the race between John Forlines and Edgar Starnes, they both have strong financial and business backgrounds. I wonder if age may come into play in this race. You never know, with age comes wisdom but will that be enough?
